The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering or IEEE is a professional organization that is a leader in technology and wants to inspire the community to move toward innovation. They are the largest Electrical Engineering organization that spans internationally. They provide many people with scholarships, job opportunities, and networking possibilities that arise from its size making it an important organization for electrical engineers.

Who are the members of this Society

IEEE includes corporate businesses and college students who work together along with an elected volunteer board world wide.
There are more than 420,000 IEEE members in over 160 countries.

Why does this association exist?

IEEE's mission statement is " IEEE's core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE will be essential to the global technical community and to technical professionals everywhere, and be universally recognized for the contributions of technology and of technical professionals in improving global conditions. "
They provide jobs, benefits, and awards and recognition.
There are also various annual conferences that can be attended which bring together different engineers to be exposed to what is going on in the community.

Becoming a member

Becoming a member provides support from a community of engineers who are working in different concentrations but can still come together and provide support and publicity for projects and for clients.
This will be useful for when a new product needs publicity or when looking to change paths and needing a way of knowing what is currently going on.
